I told the wife, the old Labrador (she's 11 years old, the dog, not the wife) is better than an alarm system. There's some idea on Mrs mac's part that the pooch is not "vicious" enough. She doesn't understand the the "bark effect" is a huge deterent.
I tried to explain, "you know it, I know it, and the dog knows it, but the bad guy at the door has no clue she's incapable of inflicting harm (Even to kittens)."
She looks and sounds like 90 pounds of brown fury ;-)
